Birchbox Limited Edition Modern Mermaid Box

LIMITED EDITION: MODERN MERMAID
I recently ordered this limited edition box from Birchbox. I ordered a limited edition box before, but this one is the best yet! Everything in the box is perfect for summer. And who doesn't love mermaids?

It came with the following products:

-Anastasia Beverly Hills' Lash Genius Waterproof Topcoat: Its purpose is to be applied over any mascara to make it waterproof. I haven't tested it yet, but I am intrigued! I think it will definitely come in handy, especially in this southern humidity. Not sure about beach days though. Who wears mascara to the beach?

-Atelier Cologne's Cédrat Enivrant Cologne Absolue Travel Spray: It smells fresh! The card says that it's a fresh citrus scent with notes of lime with Moroccan cedrat, juniper, and mint. I like citrus scents, so I'm kind of loving it! I can see it being worn as an everyday fragrance.

-Captain Blackenship's Mermaid Mane Sea Salt Spray: I am in love with this sea salt spray! But I guess that I just like sea salt sprays in general. I apply this to dry hair which gives it a little more volume and a lot more texture without weighing it down. And it doesn't make my hair feel dirty or sticky or anything. I'm not sure if I am gonna buy a full-sized bottle of this yet. I really want to try the Sacha Juan Ocean Mist first!

-Coola's Liplux SPF 30 Original Formula: Basically a lip balm with SPF. I only tried it a couple times, but I do like how it softens my lips. And even though it has SPF in it, it doesn't TASTE like it has SPF. Which sounds weird. But it's true. :) (I promise I'm not eating my lip balm.)

-Ruffian's Endless Summer Collection - Nail Polish Trio: Not really into the Sahara color. It's a metallic nude. But I don't know! I'll try it and we'll see. Sometimes nail polish looks better on the nails than it does in the bottle. The other two colors though, Blue Lagoon and Endless Love, are pretty. They're also both metallic. And I think I will be channeling my mermaid days in Guam when I wear it!

-Stephanie Johnson's Mermaid Mirror: It's very pretty. I wouldn't say that it is an essential though... I already have a billion travel mirrors. But I love the color and iridescent shine to it. It's the perfect accessory for all my mermaids out there!

I really like the design. Looks like fish scales!
-Vasanti's Kajal Extreme Intense Eye Pencil in Electric Navy: Very blue eyeliner. It is supposedly waterproof for 8 hours of wear. Which is pretty cool. I actually like blue eyeliner; it makes my brown eyes pop. And it's different. I haven't actually tried wearing this on my eyes yet, but I tested it on the back of my hand and it is very smooth and vibrant. I'll try it later and let you guys know!

This box sells for $44 on the birchbox shop (not an affliliated link!). I had 300 birchbox points lying around, so I put it towards this purchase. So, really, I only paid $14 for it which is a really great deal. By the way, I think the birchbox point system is awesome. You get 10 points for every sample that you review in your monthly box and 1 point for every dollar that you spend in the birchbox shop. Every 100 points equals $10 towards a full-sized product order. Promise that no one paid me to say that! ;)

In summary, I really liked this box and almost all the products in it. Some of the individual products are really pricey on their own, so the full-price of the box seems worth it to me. Being able to use my birchbox points on it made it a done deal. All the products are perfect for summer. Makes me miss my islands and my mermaid friends! ;) Charleston isn't bad, but I just wish I could dive whenever I wanted. (First world problems!)

  1. I find most Atelier scents heavy on me, so that fresh-smelling cedar scent sounds interesting!
I can't say I am a big fan of subscription boxes in general, but I am open to purchasing something with a clear theme like this occasionally.:)

    1. The only other Atelier scent I have (and ever tried) is Orange Sanguine. It smells just like peeled oranges. Some people might not like that, but I LOVE it! I'm not really good at describing scents, but the Cedrat is... zesty. :)

Yeah, I feel like you could just save the money you'd otherwise spend on a subscription and just buy something full-sized that you know that you want. Sometimes I get a really junk box that makes me want to cancel. But I keep it because I get products/brands that I wouldn't have found out about or probably wouldn't have bought on my own. Which is kind of cool. Plus, I like getting things in the mail. It's like a tiny present every month! ;)
